Critical discussions on fossile energy was taking place when this work was created 1983 for the Kunsthaus Zurich. Today, in the context of climate change, the topic is more relevant than ever. Even if fossile fuels such as coal, natural gas or oil are exhausted in the foreseeable future, we are only at the beginning of the consequences of the immoderate consumption over the last 150 years. The installation of a piece of rail track and anthracite coal is a symbol of the brief fragment of time that belongs to the fossilage eventually in relation to the entire history of the earth.
